This structure is made from RCC (Reinforced Cement Concrete) blocks for the foundation, RCC pillars and RCC slabs for the walls. The pillars slot into the foundation blocks and the slabs slot into the pillars. A layer of PU (polyurethane) 5mm (1/5”) thick is placed on either side of the concrete slab and sandwiched on both sides with 25mm (1”) plywood and fastened together with nylon bolts.

The front door should face the sun (South facing in the Northern Hemisphere and North facing in the Southern Hemisphere) and a wood and glass cubicle is attached to the front door. This cubicle has another door opening outward. The purpose of this cubicle is to allow the sunlight to warm the air inside the cubicle thus preventing a draught of cold air from entering the house.

A PVC water tank is mounted on the roof and a metal chimney stack from the fireplace is run through the center of the water tank. The heat from the chimney dissipates into the water preventing it from freezing.
