The DC2 comprises of recycled PVC sheeting fashioned into an inverted umbrella using GI wire (galvanized iron) with an opening in the center for the sapling. The nighttime dew settles on the surface of the PVC sheeting which condenses into droplets that then flow to the sapling. This water is sufficient for the sapling to survive without irrigation until the root system can be established.
Irrigation of saplings until they can establish their root system is the most daunting aspect of afforestation and also the cause for the greatest mortality. The Dew Catcher (DC2) solves this issue!
